40 Years of Southern Comfort Barber Mates.

What began in 1986 as the quartet One Tone Higher evolved into the Southern Comfort Barber Mates in 1987. We are now an enthusiastic group of 16 men who enjoy singing barbershop in true a cappella style.

That means: singing without instrumental accompaniment and without sheet music – everything by heart. This allows us to connect fully with our audience during performances, making every show extra special.

Over the past forty years, our group has naturally changed. Choir members and conductors came and went. Sadly, some have passed away, while others stopped for personal reasons. But one thing has always remained: the joy of singing together.

Under the inspiring leadership of our conductor and Musical Director Hanneke Reijerse, we continue to develop. She not only helps us sing beautifully but also ensures that every rehearsal is fun and inspiring. Because the joy of singing is our top priority. Our repertoire is varied: from classic barbershop numbers to well-known songs by Elvis Presley, Rob de Nijs, Cliff Richard, John Denver, and Queen, among others. Everything is four-part harmony, and everything is in the barbershop style.

Do you enjoy singing? Then you are most welcome! We could use reinforcement in all voice parts, but tenors and basses are especially welcome.

Curious? Feel free to come and get a taste of the atmosphere during our rehearsal on Wednesday evening. You can find the address details and time below.

We look forward to seeing you sometime. We hope to see you soon.
